My Creative Army
Creatives Arise!

I asked the Lord to take me to see the Creative Halls in the heavenly realms.
I am taken up and I see a park and a building that is ornate and decorative, and made in gold. In front of the building on the grass lawn are a huge mass of people, all creating. Ballerinas are stretching, musicians practicing, artists drawing, poets writing, it is hub of creativity.

Jesus takes me into the building and takes me around the rooms. I see rooms where the potters are shaping clay on wheels. A messy delight as they shape the pots and add their personal signature to their designs. I see a lady putting a newly painted pot, looking dull and uninteresting into the kiln, before she opens up another kiln and reveals a stunning finished jug, with cobalt blue and white patterns perfectly engrained on the surface. She jumps with delight to see what she imagined coming to life and all the room responds in applause and celebration of her creativity.
We go into a large room, with mirrors floor to ceiling. I see dancers working with choreographers, putting routines together with balance and poise. I see mimers putting on their costumes and their makeup, practicing their moves. Ballerinas pirouette and glide as they express their emotions without words. There are a whole bunch of street dancers working together, using their competitive dance offs to push the boundaries of their collective choreography and stretch their creative expectations.

In the next room are artists and painters, painting on canvas in oil and acrylic, stretching their paper and painting with watercolour. Others are adjusting their easels and positioning their stretched canvases, where they open up their paint tubes and mix the colours on the palette. Textile Designers using their pencils, gouache and oil pastels, then reaching to the cabinets on the wall where they can find drawers full of media to use such as coloured paper and card, tissue paper, glitter, sequins, and glue. The walls are decked all around with things to use – blank stretched canvases, tubes of paint in every colour, arranged with the drawers going through every hue and tone of the rainbow.

Jesus takes me to another room where there the walls go from the floor to the ceiling with rolls and folds of beautiful fabrics. In the centre are tables with sewing machines, overlockers, cutting tables, mannequins, with one wall full of drawings of figures, swatches, and mood boards. The next wall has rows of glass bowls with lids on, full of buttons, threads, cords, ribbons, and decorations. It is more glorious than any haberdashery I have visited on earth. My heart leaps as I see and touch the treasures I see.
Knitters are hand knitting and others are creating on their knitting machines. Others are crocheting, embroidering, with others putting their designs into production on the electronic weaving machines. These ones are perfectly enclosed and designed to be sound proof, to not interfere with the human buzz of the room, humming with creative energy.

In the next room are musicians tuning up, gathering to jam and play music together. We move on and see the classical musicians following the music to the bar and quaver, and the next one we see the band jamming and creating as the acoustic guitar strums a rhythm, the basist harmonises the notes, and the guy sits on his drum and slaps out a funky beat. I'm moving along to the rhythm as we stop to listen, enjoying hearing the song evolving as we listen along, Jesus is slapping His thigh and tapping His feet as He enjoys the groove, nodding in agreement with the sound in His ears. We stay for a while, enjoying the sounds, marvelling at the joy of creativity. We go into another room and there are computer screens and people sitting with earphones on, as they mix and engineer the music, listening to the balance of parts and getting just the right sound together.

Jesus and I go and sit down on the carpet in one of the rooms. I cross my legs and He starts to speak to me about my multi-faceted creativity He gave me. My drawing and painting skills, my sewing and love of fabrics, my creative writing, my love of music, my listening for His voice and even my course creation where I get a buzz from the wide scope of a blank canvas. All of these are different expressions of the creativity He has coursed through my bones. I am feeling totally at home in these surroundings. My creative juices are being inspired and I'm watching with delight seeing all the creativity happening around me.

Jesus says, 'This is My creative army!' I smile and ask Him, 'Lord, we don't look much like an army?' He smiles and responds, 'Like a tuning fork, as each person is in tune with Me, their creativity becomes their weapon. Some weapons are paint brushes, others are flutes and drums, others are using tablets and laptops, or lumps of clay, ballet shoes, spray cans, guitars, pens and paper and trumpets. Artists, designers, craftsmen, potters, carvers, architects, dancers, wordsmiths. They don't look much like weapons in traditional terms, but with Me they are. As My creatives interweave together, collaborating, harmonising, complimenting and feeding off each other, I, as the master conductor, create a glorious symphony of life to beckon a watching world. Their weapons of creativity mend broken hearts, pull people out of the mundane and meaningless, reach to the depths of their souls and I whisper through them 'You were born for more! You are made in My image! Eternal one – let Me draw you to Me!' I have written the score for eternity and am drawing My creatives into My glorious symphony, each one expressing themselves and what they are carrying, which harmonises and compliments what I have put inside the next creative one.'

We stand as Father joins us. His eyes are bright and he opens His arms wide and beams. 'My wild, creative, expressive, beautiful army! Isn't it glorious? Untamed and free, yet harmonising with Us all the way. Wholehearted, individual, out of the box, just how I like it! My messy yet ordered orchestra and glorious army!' I beam as I fit into this crazy bunch of wild ones. Each of us expressing our creativity differently, finding ourselves harmonising with Him as we look to Him in tandem with His purposes. His wholehearted embrace of what others could see is like herding cats, His heart is bursting with pride, watching His out of the box individuals pulsing with life.

As I look I see Holy Spirit weaving in and out of the people. He touches the singer on their lips and they start to sing in new harmonies and notes. He turns to a drummer and holds his hands, showing him a new beat of rhythm. He weaves to another person pausing as he sits with his tablet, in that place of writers block. Holy Spirit comes close to him and I see Him whispering in His ear. The guy's face lights up at the sudden inspiration and starts to type in a flurry as the ideas cascade like a flood. Father is nodding and smiling at this wonderful creative flow. Holy Spirit beckons us on, and takes us into the room with the dancers. He swirls around the dancers, like He is wind itself, touching and flowing in-between them like a fabric rippling in the breeze. The dancers respond with grace and passion, their movements speaking 1000 words as they flow in harmony with Him.
He moves to the street dancers and taps one of them on the shoulder, 'Watch Me!' He then starts to move like the most flexible and nimble street dancer, twisting, turning and moving along to the groove, like a energetic teenager.

We move on and see a young lady sitting in the corner with tears streaming down her face. She feels alone, downhearted and her face reads her emotions like a book, 'Failure'. Holy Spirit crouches in front of her and puts His hands on her head. We watch as we see Him breathing life over her and light starts to pour out and around her as Holy Spirit fills her mind and heart with hope. The darkness flees in the midst of light and the young lady smiles again, the moments changing her whole countenance to one where the light shines through. Changed in a moment. Hoping again.
As we watch Holy Spirit on the move, Jesus tells how They called the creative ones to be the first into battle. Like Jehoshaphat, who was given God's mandate to praise and worship whilst facing a formidable foe (2 Chronicles 20). For He is the leader of heaven's armies and He calls His creatives to follow Him into war for His eternal purposes. Singers, musicians, dancers, and drummers following the rhythm of heaven to lead the people of God, joined by the rest of the creative army dedicating and giving their gifts and talents for the purposes of God.

Unconventional, wild and free, in battle aray that looks more like a circus. Does it make sense? Not at all! But Father's unconventional ways fit right in. He never allowed the world to box Him into their way of doing things.
Are you part of God's creative army? Do you not feel the magnetic pull on your heart to draw to Him and let your eternal destiny embrace Him? The ultimate creator, in whom you bear His image. Rise to tune with His tuning fork, get in step with His glorious symphony and come take your place of wonderful creativity, leading others to the drumbeat of heaven, calling a hungry and watching world to seek out their eternal destiny. Creatives arise!
